Description
Libra by Jake Baddeley
Libra: (September 23 – October 22)
The balance, corresponds to an Egyptian deity Ma’at the Goddess of measure and balance. In Egyptian myth the dead were judged by Anubis, using a feather, representing Ma’at, the goddess of truth and justice responsible for maintaining order in the universe. The heart was the seat of the life-spirit . Hearts heavier or lighter than the feather of Ma’at were rejected and eaten by Ammit, the Devour-er of Souls.
As it was known to the Babylonians as the scales – which were held sacred to the sun god Shamash, who was also the patron of truth and justice – we can assume that this tradition is very old. We recognise this image as we use it to represent justice still today.
The key traits for a Libra personality type is said to be the qualities of balance, harmony and diplomacy. The constellation itself is also in the shape of a pair of scales.

Libra is a limited edition “Giclée” print of the original painting, made with archival pigment inks on heavy stock, natural white (not bleached) fine art etching paper. The matte etching paper nicely presents the brushstrokes and texture of the original painting.
All prints are signed and numbered by the original artist in the border beneath the image and come with a certificate of authenticity and an embossed stamp by the master printer.
Derived from the French, “giclée” means “sprayed” and is an advanced digital printmaking technology involving archival quality inks that are finely jet streamed onto fine archival papers. Giclee printing provides superior color accuracy and incredible detail over other modes of reproduction.
Giclee prints can be found in New York’s Metropolitan Museum as well as galleries and auction houses throughout the world.Â
