Description
Pisces by Jake Baddeley
PISCES (February 19 – March 20)
The constellation of Pisces has an almost universal association with female deities. The ancient Babylonians recognised the Fishes as the goddesses Anunitum and Simmah; while the Syrians saw the group as a representation of their goddess Ashtarte and frequently drew it as a woman’s head upon a fish’s body. The Greeks adopted this identification, suggesting that the two Fishes represent Venus and her son Cupid.
According to mythology, Venus and cupid dived into a river and transformed themselves into fishes in order to escape the evil attack of monstrous Typhon. Of course, mythology also claims that Venus was born from the sea while astrology, appropriately, exalts her in the sign of the Fishes.
People born under the Pisces sign are either commended for their compassionate humility and sympathetic consideration, or berated for being weak-willed, gullible and lacking in focus. Kindness, trust and a ‘willingness to believe’ has contributed to Pisces ’ reputation as one of the most spiritual signs of the zodiac.

Pisces is a limited edition “Giclée” print of the original painting, made with archival pigment inks on heavy stock, natural white (not bleached) fine art etching paper. The matte etching paper nicely presents the brushstrokes and texture of the original painting.
All prints are signed and numbered by the original artist in the border beneath the image and come with a certificate of authenticity and an embossed stamp by the master printer.
Derived from the French, “giclée” means “sprayed” and is an advanced digital printmaking technology involving archival quality inks that are finely jet streamed onto fine archival papers. Giclee printing provides superior color accuracy and incredible detail over other modes of reproduction.
Giclee prints can be found in New York’s Metropolitan Museum as well as galleries and auction houses throughout the world.Â
